ANNOUNCING A NEW VERSION OF A
PROMINENT OCCUPATIONAL & ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DATABASE
Hamilton ... The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health & Safety (CCOHS) has developed a new version of the U.S. National Library of Medicine's TOXLINE(R) database. The CCOHS product includes a number of unique information sources, making this one of the most comprehensive occupational health and environmental references world-wide.
TOXLINE(R) contains bibliographic references to literature on chemicals and toxicology from sources around the world. The version prepared by CCOHS and available on a set of CD-ROM discs offers information from 14 subfiles, including information from the prestigious MEDLINE database.
The subfiles include well-known databases such as PESTAB (compiled by the Environmental Protection Agency, DART (Environmental Teratology Information Centre), HMTC (Hazardous Materials Technical Center), TOXBIB (National Library of Medicine), CIS (the International Labour Office), and CRISP (the National Institute of Health).
Environmental pollution, food and water contamination, pharmacology and occupational hazards are some of the many topics covered. In all, TOXLINE(R) contains over one million citations to literature in all areas of toxicology. A further 5,000 references are added monthly and are available through quarterly updates.
A comprehensive and timely source, the TOXLINE(R) CD-ROM version by CCOHS will be of interest to anyone conducting research on or requiring information and statistics about a wide range of occupational health and safety issues: aneuploidy (chromosome abnormalities), agents causing birth defects, chemical testing, the management of hazardous materials, the effects of pesticides on humans, the toxic effects of poisonous plants.
